Lesson Learned

Lesson learned, the hard way.  Always double check the amount of backing fabric you need for your quilt before purchasing it.

This is my beautiful shoo fly quilt (remember, I showed you a few of the blocks a couple of weeks ago).  I put it up on my design wall( I love this thing!) to make my quilt sandwich so that I could machine quilt it.  I got it all spray basted and up on the wall only to discover that I'm about 6" short on backing fabric.  If I had another 2" it would be long enough to cover the back of the quilt and I could make do, but its too short for even that.
See?  Missed it by that much!  Oh well, live and learn, right?  I plan to take off the row on each end of the quilt after I do my machine quilting so that everything is covered by backing.  Actually once I take off the end rows, the quilt will be a better proportion, as it is, its a little on the long and skinny side.  I guess there is a silver lining to every cloud!  Have a great weekend!  I'll be back soon to share with you the quilts I've finished recently!  Sew Happy!
